Most know this, but many newbies are not aware that, if they have a DC (usually an AC/DC) stick welder they can TIG weld with it. Scratch start, no Aluminum, no foot pedal, etc. Its bare bones basic, but simply add a TIG torch, run straight Argon gas through it, and you can get good practice , learning to sharpen Tungstens, maintaining a proper gap, avoiding contaminating the Tungsten, etc.

This is all true but before jumping into this do your home work and look into adding a cooling system for your tig torch. Money well spent if you are going to do anything more than a fast repair.
